The Latham "Remove The Bald" technique was developed by Dr. Carl B. Shory and Latham's Hair Clinic, a division of Hair International, Ltd., in 1985-86 as a revolutionary improvement over the standard hair transplant.
Rather than creating clumps or rows of grafts the transplants consist of much smaller grafts that are about the size of a pinhead, or in the case of micro-grafting, transplanting only one hair at a time.
New radio-surgical techniques developed by Dr. Shory have increased the number of grafts which can be used, thereby making it possible to do hair replacement on individuals who previously were thought to be too bald.
The finished results can be washed, cut, combed, styled and look totally natural. In addition the procedure has been so refined that it is virtually painless, requiring no sedation and no bandages.
Because of the small size of the grafts, they can be placed within existing thin hair to thicken it, or to re-established the original hairline.
The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis with the patient fully awake -- sitting upright watching his or her favorite video and only requiring two to four hours of the patients time. Afterwards the hair is styled to look no different than when the patient arrived at the clinic, and he or she can usually return to work or home immediately.
In short, it is the state-of-the-art in hair replacement.
